The thing all internet maketers dread

When you get involved in a large scale promotion like I did yesterday, the one thing you dread is a mechanical breakdown somewhere along the line. With yesterday's promotion I had to set up a registration page that would capture the email addresses of people who wanted to download my Special Report and then deliver them automatically to a page from where they could download it.

Of course I had tested this process carefully but even so it is very easy to make mistakes and the ultimate test is what actually happens when a shed load of traffic hits your site.

In terms of the worst things that can happen, it is probably not capturing any contact details although if you suffer a mechanical failure that requires manual intervention for every new subscriber, that too can be a difficult thing to sort out but at least you get the names.

Funny thing this: anyone who knows anything about internet marketing will repeatedly tell you that "the money is in the list" and yet the vast majority of website owners don't run one. Good autoresponders make the whole thing remarkably easy and they are cheap too.
